The State Government on Friday offered logistic support to the Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilisers for establishment of a National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPER) in Odisha.
The State Government has set up a bio-technology park over an area of 64 acre in the Capital City and is in the process of setting up pharma and medical device parks in Odisha, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik said in a letter to Union Minister for Chemical and Fertilisers Ananth Kumar.
“Hence, setting up a NIPER in Odisha would be in the fitness of the overall scheme of development of pharmaceutical sector in this region with a view to train future teachers, research scientists and professionals for the industry,” Naveen said.
Naveen requested the Union Minister to consider setting up a centre in Odisha at the earliest.
