Make in Odisha delegation generates huge interest among Kolkata businesses

The Government of Odisha in collaboration with Department of Industrial Policy & Promotion (DIPP), Government of India and Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) has announced the “Make In Odisha” conclave at Bhubaneshwar from November 30-December 02, 2016. As part of the promotional campaign, the visiting Make in Odisha delegation today generated huge interest among Kolkata based business community during the roadshow organized in the city.
The “Make in Odisha” delegation led by Hon’ble Minister for Industries, Shri Debi Prashad Mishracomprised of both Government officials and industry leaders such as Mr Arun Misra, Managing Director, Tata Steel SEZ, and Vice-President, Gopalpur Project, Mr Anil Vaswani, Chairman, CII West Bengal & Managing Director, Wesman Engineering Co Ltd, Dr Rupali Basu, Vice Chairperson, CII West Bengal, Mr Ashish Agarwal, Past Chairman, CII North Odisha Zonal Council, and MD, Oriplast Ltd. The delegation which included senior Odisha Government officials like Mr Sanjeev Chopra, IAS, Principal Secretary, Industries Department, CMD, Industrial Promotion & Investment Corporation of Odisha Limited (IPICOL), Chairman, Odisha Mining Corporation, Government of Odisha, and Mr Kalyan Mohanty, General Manager IPICOL, met more than 25 Kolkata-based companies at the roadshow and held a series of one-to-one meetings.
The roadshow was organized with an objective of showcasing the manufacturing prowess of the Odisha State and the investment opportunities across the focus sectors.
Addressing the industry leaders at the roadshow, Hon’ble Minister for Industries, Shri Debi Mishra said, “The new Odisha Industrial Development Plan: Vision 2025 focusing on some key sectors such as textile and apparel, chemical, petro-chemical and plastics, defence manufacturing, smart cities, tourism, skill development, food processing (including sea food, Electronics manufacturing & IT through which we aim to attract investments to the tune of Rs. 2.5 lakh crore and generate direct & indirect employment opportunities for 30 lakh people.”
“The State of Odisha has progressive industrial policy and robust industrial infrastructure ecosystem. Good governance clubbed with single window facilitation and best-in-class incentives offered by the Government will not only help companies in setting up their operations but also expand in State of Odisha in future” he further added.
During the visit, the delegation held meetings with companies such as Jayashree Chemicals, Westcoast Papers Ltd, Eastern Bakery, Bajoria Pvt Ltd, Glaze Infra, Blue Chips Projects Pvt Ltd. The visiting delegation presented competitive advantages of Odisha as a manufacturing destination and shared information about more than 200 ‘ready-to-invest’ projects in the State in diverse sectors and areas including industrial parks, textiles, healthcare, manufacturing, food processing, urban infrastructure, petrochemicals, tourism and downstream industries. Besides, talking about the ‘Ease of doing business’ in its pitch to the business community, the state also presented a slide on ‘Cost of doing business’.
